For Henrik Stenson, it sounds a lot like “been there done that.”
Stennie won’t be at the Northern Trust this week or any playoff event for that matter. Stenson, No. 85 on the FedEx Cup points list would rather be in Sweden.
He’s not the only one missing in Jersey City. Paul Casey, who’s No. 8 on the points list, knows that he has the top 30 locked up and is taking the week off to rest and concentrate on the BMW at Medinah.
Stenson is in his homeland, relaxing and getting ready to warm up for what used to be the Nordea Masters. Today it’s the Scandinavian Invitational in three weeks, same dates as the Tour Championship. No big deal. Stennie was the FedEx Cup champion back in 2013, he won one of the three playoff events then took the Tour Championship. He finished second in 2015.
Also missing will be No. 59 — Rafa Cabrera Bello. He has a good excuse. He’s back in Spain with his wife as she prepares to deliver the couple’s first child.
Sam Burns will miss the playoffs too. Good reason — broken ankle.
So obviously not everyone is all that excited about these so-called playoffs.

he’s gotta feel out of form and fried. Good for him.

I’m sure his clubs appreciate the break as well (pun intended).
