Whatever happened to Hunter Mahan?
The only time you see him on television these days is in commercials for Ace Hardware.
Basically he’s been invisible on the golf course because he’s had one very, very miserable season.
If making $1.262 million is miserable, then a lot of folks would love the misery but we’re talking about a guy who has been looked at as one of the tour’s rising stars for a lot of years.
It’s do or die time for him this week at the Deutsche Bank. The top 100 made it to TPC Boston and he’s No. 91, down from 77 last week after missing the cut at the Barclays.
His season record is dismal: no wins, no seconds, no thirds. How about a measly three top 10s?
This just hasn’t been a typical Hunter Mahan sort of year.
He’ll have to play really, really well this week or he’ll be heading home to Dallas to get ready for the upcoming football season. Only the top 70 will move on and that means a lot of name players will be done and out of the playoffs.
