He is still the standard bearer.
He is still the holder of golf’s most coveted record.
He is Jack Nicklaus and today, January 21st, he turns 76-years-old.
He doesn’t play much golf anymore. Time has seen to that as well as a back that doesn’t allow him to swing the way most of us remember.
But Jack Nicklaus is still active, still busy, still one of the world’s most sought-after golf course designers.
Nicklaus heads the Golden Bear empire which covers everything from golf apparel to lemonade and ice cream.
Nicklaus is also one of golf’s great memory-keepers.
Anyone remember where you were when Nicklaus made his incredible back-nine charge at Augusta National to win the Masters at age 46? It was his 18th and final and that magic number is still the gold standard in golf.
Today Nicklaus and wife Barbara are powerful forces in the world of philanthropy.
So Happy Birthday to The Golden Bear.
You’re still the greatest.
