The Web.com Tour is where PGA Tour hopefuls quietly go about their business.
Not a lot of fanfare, smaller towns, smaller but still enthusiastic crowds.
On Thursday, Stephan Jaeger, a former University of Chattanooga golfer who hails from Germany, shot an incredible 58 at something called the Ellie Mae Classic at the TPC Stonebrae in Hayward, Ca.
Lowest score ever on a significant U.S. tour. There have been five 59s on the Web.com, but never this number.
“You don’t know when those days are going to come and they come unexpectedly,” Jaeger said after his spectacular showing with identical nines of 29-29 on the par 70 course. “Days like this are very, very, very rare.”
We’ll second that.
