The world-wide concerns with the Zika virus continue to grow and you can’t now count Jason Day among those with big concerns.
When the Olympics are staged in Brazil in two months, a lot of name golfers won’t be showing up.
Jason Day is worried. He has a growing family, he and wife Ellie may be contemplating more children and Zika is a threat.
“Obviously it could happen here in the States but I think if you are putting yourself down there, there is a chance of you getting it,” Day said in regards to the Zika outbreaks.
Golfers would be at risk more than others. They spend at least six-hours a day outdoors before, during and after their competitive rounds, and that may not be a comfortable situation for most.
“We are going to explore every avenue to make sure we make an educated decision before we go down there,” Day said on Friday at The Memorial.
So Day’s appearance to represent Australia is not a given.
Stay tuned.
