Jessica Korda still has 18 holes to go but she’s got a lot to smile about at the Honda LPGA event in Thailand.
After setting a 36-hole scoring mark on Friday, she turned in a four-under par 68 Saturday that got her to 20-under par. That tied the 54-hole scoring mark and gave her a four-shot lead going into Sunday’s final round.
“I had no expectations, but my coach and I have worked together and it is still there,” said Korda. “I was bit nervous on the front nine, but I knocked the rust off.”
She still has a lot of work to do as there are some seriously good players chasing her.
Moriya Jutanugarn is the closest to her. She’s 16-under after shooting 65 on moving day. Minjee Lee (68) is two back and the other Jutanugarn, Ariya, is six back after posting 65 to match her sister.
Lexi Thompson will need to go low. She’s seven back after 69 left her at 13-under par.
Korda is looking for her first win since 2015.
“It’s crazy how quick it is coming together,” said Korda. “I’m really enjoying it and now have one more day.”
