Heavily.
John Daly is overweight and if you look at him, he doesn’t appear to be in very good shape.
John Daly probably doesn’t care.
Daly is 49-years-old going on 79.
Last Saturday he was taken to the Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, Ms., after he collapsed on the 18th tee during a local tournament. The diagnosis was a collapsed lung. But Daly didn’t let it keep him down, he was playing the next day.
The last time we saw John Daly he was missing the cut at the PGA Championship. He was in as a former champion, he has lost his status on the PGA Tour and these days he’s mostly a curiosity who plays wherever he can.
Daly’s got another year to go before he is Champions Tour eligible. He turns 50 April 28 of next year. Then, perhaps, we will see him on the old guys circuit. That tour can use him, it’s a pretty boring proposition.
The catch is, Daly’s gotta stay healthy enough to play.
