Finally.
Jordan Spieth finally showed up and says he’s got a lot to look forward to the rest of the season.
After a miserable 2019 that saw Spieth fail to finish in the top 20 in any event, things turned around for the three-time major champion at the 101st PGA Championship.
“I’m happy with the progress,” Spieth said after rounds of 69-66-72-71 and a two-under par total that earned him a tie for third with Patrick Cantlay and Matt Wallace.
“It (Bethpage Black) was a course that doesn’t necessarily git my game,” Spieth admitted after his final round.
“All-in-all I’m excited about the trajectory of my game,” he said after surviving the high winds and tough conditions that rocked many of the competitors over the final 18 holes.
He said his week gave him reason to look forward to the next two majors.
“It says that I have full belief in our team. I have full belief in my process, my mentality, my selfishness and my work ethic. I put in more hours over the last five months than I’ve ever put in my game in a five-month stretch, just trying to get to where I can be out here on a major championship Sunday making par saves, making birdie putts, and contending even without having my best stuff. That’s like 2015, 2016, 2017, that’s how I felt then.”
