Jordan Spieth makes a LOT of putts, at least it seems he does.
Spieth proved he’s human with the flatstick, albeit rarely.
On the back nine at Memorial, the Masters champion missed five, yes, five birdie putts that he normally pours in with ease. Four of them were inside eight feet and one was from a mere 12 feet.
After the turn, it looked like Spieth was on his way to a special round. He shot a five-under par 31 that included a 60-foot bomb at the par five fifth for eagle.
Things got pretty ugly on the back nine, starting at the 10th. He took a double-bogey six, added a bogey at the par three 12th and made no birdies, although he had those five good looks.
Spieth’s 39 coming in left him with a 70 and he goes into the weekend tied for 16th at six-under.
