Jordan Spieth could be in a spot of bother come Friday afternoon at St. Andrews.
Here’s the deal:
The weather is everything at the Open Championship. Catch the wrong side of the tee sheet and you might get blown into the Firth of Forth. If it’s strong enough, maybe all the way to the Northern Sea.
A quick check of the St. Andrews weather report predicts that there will be turbulence on the bonnie links come Friday afternoon. And that could spell trouble for Spieth. But he’s not alone. Tiger Woods is on that side of the draw, so are Dustin Johnson, Louie Oosthuizen, Jason Day, Bubba Watson and Sergio Garcia.
Who might the lucky ones be? Adam Scott, Martin Kaymer, Phil Mickelson, Matt Kuchar, Justin Rose and Rickie Fowler play early on Friday.
By Friday afternoon, the wind could be gusting up to 40 miles per hour.
Wow!
When the weather’s good, St. Andrews is a walk in the park.
When wind and rain set it, it’s every player’s nightmare.
Stay tuned.
