Jordan Spieth’s golf game is totally in the crapper.
He’s off to a horrible start this season, his best finish was a tie for 35th at the Farmers. His other finishes saw him tied for 45th at Pebble Beach, tie for 51st at The Genesis and tie for 54th at the WGC Mexico.
When you check his stats, it’s easy to understand why.
In strokes gained off the tee — he’s 197th. Strokes gained with approach shots — 16th. Strokes gained around the greens — 132nd and strokes gained putting — 114th.
Overall, in total strokes gained, he’s 161st on the PGA Tour.
His misery was on full display at The Players Thursday. Spieth finished his day with four sixes on his card. He shot 40 on the front nine and tried to rally on the back, only to finish his day by watering his tee shot at the difficult 18th to finish with double-bogey and a round of 76 that left him tied for 130th.
Spieth was all over the lot, a bad thing at the Stadium Course. If you don’t bring you’re game, you won’t find it on this layout.
Spieth has fallen to 25th in the world rankings and it didn’t look on Thursday like there was any light at the end of the tunnel.
