Jordan Spieth is finding his groove in the Bahamas.
Spieth got off to a slow start Friday but got it going the way he did most of last season. He played his last 13 holes at Albany in seven-under par and is tied for the 36-hole lead at the Hero World Challenge.
The world’s No. 1 is in at 11-under par at the halfway mark along with Billy Haas. Both shot six-under par 66s. Jimmy Walker’s 67 moved him into the lead trio.
“A rough start but a great bounce-back,” is how Spieth described his day. “Obviously I’m very pleased with it.”
Spieth, who played the par fives in just one-under par on Thursday, started to get the hang of it when he hit the 11th in two and holed a 30-footer for eagle. “A really nice putt there,” said Spieth. “Hit it in two and got a long one to go.”
In all, he had five birdies and the eagle against the two early bogeys at the third and fifth holes.
Spieth, Haas and Walker will start the third round a shot in front of Chris Kirk, Patrick Reed and Bubba Watson. Kirk and Reed tied for the day’s low round with 65s. Watson shot 67 for the second straight day.
Open champion Zach Johnson was in a group three back along with Matt Kuchar and Paul Casey.
