Justin Thomas has been near flawless at the Workday Charity Open. Through 54-holes, he’s bogey-free and leads by two going into Sunday’s final round.
Thomas’ 66 on moving day at Muirfield Village Saturday afternoon, got him to 16-under par as he went blowing by fading Collin Morikawa.
Closest challenger is young Viktor Hovland. His 66 got him to 14-under and he will play in the final threesome Sunday with Thomas and Morikawa, who could do not better than an even par 72.
The start of the final round was moved up to 7 a.m. Sunday to avoid a dismal afternoon weather forecast. The lead threesome of Thomas, Hovland and Morikawa will go off at 9 a.m.
Thomas has made it look easy. He’s gotten better every day. “It was a real good round,” he said after his finish. “Very windy and some pin placements I’ve never seen before. I got it around really well today. I like this position, I’m comfortable.”
He should be comfortable, Thomas has went on the win in eight of the 12 events where he has held the 54-hole lead.
