There was a smaller tournament within the tournament Monday in Boston at the Dell Technologies.

You had Kevin Chappell vs. Charley Hoffman for the 10th spot in the President’s Cup point standings and a guaranteed spot on the team.

Chappell’s T35 finish allowed him to edge Hoffman by .073 of a point.

Hoffman, at No. 11, has no guarantee but team captain Steve Stricker is expected to make him a captain’s pick on Wednesday afternoon.

The other captain’s pick is most likely to be Phil Mickelson. Mickelson had a good showing in Boston and finished in a tie for sixth at 11-under par.
