Kevin Kisner and Scott Brown don’t have to worry about locking up with Jonas Blixt and Cameron Smith in a Zurich playoff this year.
Kisner and Brown are leading the team event, Blixt and Smith have gone home after missing the 36-hole cut.
A 64 by Kisner and Brown that included a birdie on the final hole of the day, got them to 20-under par and a shot in front going into the final round Sunday at the TPC Louisiana.
This year’s finale will be difficult. Teams will play alternate shot rather than best-ball. A lot of teams have thrived on best-ball, few have done well in alternate-shot. With their experience from last year, Kisner and Brown should have an advantage although Brown struggled on the back nine Saturday.
One shot behind is Team Utah — aka Tony Finau and Daniel Summerhays. They missed their chance to tie for the lead when they failed to birdie the par five 18th. They’re tied with 36-hole leaders Michael Kim and Andrew Putnam at 19-under.
Brian Garnett and Chesson Hadly will start the final 18 two back after shooting an 11-under par 61 on Saturday. They were one of three teams to shoot 11-under.
