The old saying on the PGA Tour says it’s tough to follow-up a great round with a good round.
No problems for Phil Mickelson.
Mickelson toured the Nicklaus Tournament course on day two of the Desert Classic with a four-under par 68 and he’s the man on top at the halfway mark at 16-under par.
Rookie Curtis Luck, who was closest to Phil after round one, shot 66 on the Nicklaus Tournament layout and was two off of Mickelson’s lead.
Phil’s three in front of Canadian Adam Hadwin who shot 66 at LaQuinta.
Defending champion Jon Rahm stayed in contention with a second straight 66 and is 12-under, just four back.
World’s No. 1 Justin Rose is at eight-under after a pair of 68s.
