Lydia Ko was standing on the practice putting green Sunday at the Clearwater Golf Club, just outside of Christchurch, New Zealand.
She was getting ready for her final round tee-time at the ISPS Handa New Zealand Open on the Ladies European Tour.
The ground beneath her rumbled and shook. There was a 5.7 magnitude earthquake hitting about 10 miles away.
Unshaken, the women’s world No. 1 went out and won the event with a final round 70.
“It was interesting,” Ko said afterwards, a major understatement. “I’ve never been on a golf course where is an earthquake.”
Ko bagged her 15th world-wide win and bagged the paltry sum of $33,000 for the victory.
She donated the entire amount to help things in New Zealand in the aftermath of the quake.
