Who doesn’t want more distance off the tee?
We’d all like even an extra five to 10 yards, truth be known.
Today, PGA Tour veteran member Larry Rinker gives some great tips that can help you find some extra distance off the tee.
First tip — turn that right hip back. You have to have some room and that will create some space and help you load into your right side. Perfect example is Vijay Singh. As The Veej got older, he really started to move that right hip back.
Second: Work on an in-to-out swing path. The hated “over-the-top” move is the opposite — it goes out to in and we want to avoid that distance-killer.
Third: It’s important to learn to “hit-up” with the driver. Larry shows how to set up to accomplish that. Tilting your spine angle to the right if you’re a right-handed player helps with that and you want to work on keeping your head well behind the ball.
Fourth: Use your legs! Tour players do this quite well but as we age, it isn’t all that easy. One of Larry’s keys is to simply straighten your left leg to get things started and you’ll see that in the video.
