Sorry NBC.
Sorry Today Show.
You botched it, Hallie Jackson.
Thursday morning in its first segment when NBC was stirring the Donald Trump-Hillary Clinton-Bernie Sanders pot, it totally got its report wrong when it comes to the Doral-PGA Tour controversy.
Reporter Hallie Jackson said it the the “PGA’s” decision to move the WGC event from Doral to Mexico City. On the television screens, NBC flashed the logo of the PGA of America, as the responsible party for Wednesday decision by the PGA Tour and Commissioner Tim Finchem.
Sorry NBC, let’s explain the difference for you and Matt Lauer, a man who plays golf and should have known the difference.
First, ladies and gentlemen of the press, the PGA of America is the organization that is home to the more than 3,500 hard-working club professional and golf instructors. The PGA of America puts on the PGA Championship, one of the four majors and the Ryder Cup.
The PGA Tour is the organization that owns and operates the weekly competitions that involve professional golfers such as Jason Day, Jordan Spieth and those fellows.
The PGA and the PGA Tour became separate entities after 1968.
Obviously NBC didn’t receive notification.

Amazing because it makes you wonder what other mistakes the network makes in covering real news not something that really does not affect the world as we know it. It is even worse because NBC covers that event as part of their “pga tour” package.

Amen Bob, great observations, Johnny Miller wasn’t around to explain the difference but Matt Lauer should have known…
