Nelly Korda and sister Jessica were the two bright spots in last week’s embarrassing loss by the United States at the Solheim Cup.
Nelly decided to stick around and spend a week in France at a Ladies European Tour event.
Korda was the class of the field, the highest-ranked player to show up at Golf Du Medac outside Bordeaux. She performed like it.
The 10th-ranked Korda put together rounds of 68-64-70 then on a blustery Sunday, shot an impressive four-under par 67 on the Chateaux Course to notch the victory — her first win on the LET.
“Conditions were tough, but I tried to stay level headed, and I tried to keep my head down and make as many birdies as possible,” Korda said.
Korda was 3-0-1 at the Solheim Cup team. She also had a second-place finish in South Korea before heading to the Solheim Cup.
“I’m playing really solid,” Korda said.
Korda, 21, blew away the field, closest to her was runnerup Celine Boutier at seven-under par. Boutier was a member of the victorious European team at the Solheim.
