When you’re the highest-ranked American women’s professional, expectations come with that.
Nelly Korda has been a good performer this season leading up to the first major, now in the books.
Overall, it was a good week for American women’s golf with five players in the top 10 — Lexi Thompson finished third despite her bone-head triple-bogey on Saturday. Kristen Gillman, Ally McDonald, Danielle Kang and Nelly’s older sis — Jessica — all tied for sixth at the ANA Inspiration.
But where was Nelly?
Nelly finished a lowly T52 with gag-inducing rounds of 74-75-74 the first 54 holes. She finally got a grasp on Sunday with a closing 69.
Yes, she’s young but careers are made by performances in the major championships and sadly, she left her “A” game at home.
Seeing as we can use a woman’s touch in the Dog House, we’ll invite Nelly in for a couple of days.
