Play a golf tournament anywhere near New York and you’re gonna get the Big Apple media members showing up, even if they know next to nothing about golf.
Seems a bunch of those types tried to corner Tiger Woods after his final round Sunday at Ridgewood and tried to bait him into commenting on politics and President Donald Trump.
Woods was too smart, too skillful for them, with these observations:
“I’ve known Donald for a number of years,” Woods said. “We’ve played golf together. We’ve had dinner together. I’ve known him pre-presidency and obviously during his presidency.”
Then they tried to lure Woods into talking about immigration policies, he wouldn’t bite:
“Well, he’s the President of the United States. You have to respect the office. No matter who is in the office, you may like, dislike personality or the politics, but we all must respect the office.”
Then there was more pushing, asking Woods to comment about the state of race relations in the United States:
He quickly ducked that one too:
“No. I just finished 72 holes and I’m really hungry,” he said.
Good for Tiger.
New York media types sentenced to 30 days in the Dog House for Tiger-Baiting.
Keegan’s 16-Shot Swing:
Keegan Bradley was basking in the glory of his 62 on Saturday at the Northern Trust. So what did he do on Sunday?
He pooped in the bed.
Bradley went out and shot 78 — a whopping 16-shot swing from Saturday.
Three days in the Dog House, Keegan!
Jordy’s Nine-Shot Swing:
Mr. Inconsistency continues to be exactly that. Jordan Spieth shot a dazzling 64 on Saturday at the Northern Trust then promptly went bogey-boy on everyone Sunday with a 73 and a nine-shot swing to the bad side.
Two days in the Dog House, Jordy!
Lexi Thompson Losing Interest?
Up in Canada Lexi Thompson looked like she wanted to be somewhere else.
At the LPGA event, won by Brooke Henderson, Lexi wasn’t even around for the weekend.
She shot 72-78 and didn’t come close to making the 36-hole cut. The 78 included a front nine 41.
Lexi needs to camp out in the Dog House and figure out if she wants to really play golf.
