We were first introduced to Kohki Idoki back in 2013 when he emerged from Japan just long enough to win the Senior PGA Championship.
And just like that he was back on his way to Japan.
Idoki is back and is the 36-hole co-leader at the Senior Open Championship along with Joe Durant, winner four times on the regular PGA Tour. They’re both seven-under par after two trips around historic Carnoustie. Idoki’s 67 on Friday was the low round of the top 10 contenders while Durant shot 68.
Sweden’s Jesper Parnevik is a shot back at six-under with former U.S. Senior Open winner Olin Browne and Tom Byrum and three others.
Americans Mark O’Meara and Scott McCarron were done at five-under along with Sweden’s Magnus Atlevi.
Bernard Langer, the dominant player on the Champions Tour who already has two majors to his credit this season, kept himself in striking distance with a second straight 71 to get in at two-under par.

the big name for me who has been absent from the leaderboards for a long time is Paraguay’s Carlos Franco–the 4 time pga tour champion is only 1 off the pace and playing great. It would be an amazing win if carlos could pull it off considering he has not won in years anywhere in the world.
Great leaderboard and no shortage of stories at the half way mark.

Anyone can win the Senior Open, my high school nemesis, Pete Oakley, won this title!
