Paddy Harrington found out the hard way this week that golf clinics can be hazardous to your health.
Harrington was in the midst of an instructional clinic Tuesday in Memphis when the unexpected happened.
An amateur participant was making a practice swing, Harrington was unaware of it and POW! The amateur landed a crushing blow to Harrington’s left elbow.
“Thankfully, nothing was broken, just six stitches. I thought it was the end of me playing competitive golf,” Harrington said looking back on the incident.
Sadly, Harrington’s injury forced him to withdraw from the St. Jude FedEx Championship. He’ll be out of action for at least 12 days.
Harrington did maintain his sense of humor.
He tweeted:
“There’s no truth to the rumor that it was the amateur’s best strike of the day.”
