There are some interesting revelations today regarding Phil Mickelson and his unscrupulous activities that he conducted while still a member of the PGA Tour — and those revelations come from a fellow LIV-defector — Pat Perez.
When it comes to controversy, Mickelson has long been the old King Of Controversy during his PGA Tour days. Gambling debts, his association with knowm gambler/bookie/shadowy figure Billy Walters came to the forefront during the investigation into the insider trading centered around Dean Foods.
Walters went to prison and Lefty escaped scot-free — all he had to do was give back his ill-gotten gains from the venture. The PGA Tour looked the other way.
Wasn’t the first time the Tour looked the other way when Lefty was involved in some sort of underhanded stuff.
Today, Lefty’s living large with the fat payoff from LIV Golf — and Perez revealed there’s more than meets the eye when it came to Mickelson and his exit from the PGA Tour.
In a recent Son Of A Butch podcast with Claude Harmon III, son of golf guru Butch, Perez basically undresses Mickelson. Typically, the LIV-PGA Tour battle has seen salvos fired from the respective leagues at each other but this time, it’s a LIV insider, Perez, blowing the whistle on Defector-In-Chief — Mickelson.
Of course Perez joined LIV, a very understandable move given the fact that the sun was setting on his career after 21 seasons. He knew his was no longer competitive, not capable of winning — so at age 46 — he did the logical thing — took the dirty Saudi money and said thanks.
Now back to Pat’s revelations about Mickelson that revealed Mickelson was operating behind everyone’s back on the PGA Tour, trying to recruit players to LIV and Perez believes Mickelson profited from his covert recruiting mission.
Check out this quote from the podcast:
“And the fact that when he (Mickelson) made this action, not only was it – he had intentions of doing it. He was already – he knew it was going to happen before it happened and when he did it – I was hurt for one. I was like, ‘How can this guy do this?’
“When it comes to Phil, I have a different hate for Phil than most people. People won’t know the story, I’m not going to go into the story again, but Phil crossed the line with me that is just un-crossable and unforgivable.”
The bulk of the rhetoric — the basic war of words that has occurred in the world of golf, has come between those siding with the PGA Tour and those who side with LIV Golf. Now comes a revelation from within the LIV ranks.
Just imagine a situation in the corporate world where a competing company paid someone high-up in another company to help steal key figures from that company. That wouldn’t sit well in a court of law and that’s going to come up when all this PGA Tour-LIV mess does head to court.
As for Perez, LIV was a retirement dream come true. He was fortunate enough to land on Dustin Johnson’s winning team and as a result, Perez ended up pocketing more than $8 million for his seven-event foray into the world of the LIV circus/exhibition.
Who can blame him? Fact is he got congrats from several players. “I got a text from Justin Thomas and he said ‘I’m so happy for you — congrats.’ That’s pretty cool,” Perez recounted.
“I was toward the end of my career — I’m not a threat to any of these top players,” Perez pointed out.
Perez finished eighth on the LIV payout list while Mickelson was a lowly 40th.
And now Pat Perez has verified what a lot of people already knew — Phil Mickelson is your basic snake-in-the-grass.

Would be a bit hypocritical of Pat to be pissed at Phil for recruiting players, when he himself has joined LIV and raved about the experience, effectively becoming a recruiter also.
I think you’ll find Pat is pissed because Phil sent a picture of his junk to Mrs Perez. It’s been quite widely reported elsewhere today..
Crappy move by Phil, but nothing to do with LIV golf. Lets not waste an opportunity though to take a shot at LIV, right?

HUGE difference here Forky, Pat Perez did NOT try and recruit other PGA Tour players to defect to LIV, Phil did and may have been compensated….that will come out in depositions and if that’s the case, it will do great harm to LIV’s complaint — as I explained, it’s like a company employee who has secretly signed a deal to go to a new company but stays at his old company for a while and attempts to convince other employees to leave and join the other company…..corporate sabotage…..sorry you don’t understand that aspect.

I dont disagree with any of that. Phil may have been up to some shady dealings with LIV recruitment, but this is not what Pat Perez was talking about on the podcast. His problems with Phil are personal. You have incorrectly drawn LIV into the argument.
To use your analogy above.. if you send a picture of your junk to a co-worker.. is it your companies fault? No.

The quotes were specific, LIV recruitment was involved and Perez pointed that out.
