Patrick Reed typically has won at least one tournament every year on the PGA Tour since 2013 and he’ll have a chance for his sixth victory on Sunday at the Wells Fargo.
Reed tied Dustin Johnson and Seung-Yul Noh for low round of the day Saturday, a five-under par 67 and that got him to eight-under, good enough for a one-shot lead going into Sunday’s finale.
Hot on Reed’s heels were rookie sensation John Rahm and European Tour veteran Alex Noren. Rahm got to seven-under at the final hole when he chipped in for birdie after flubbing his third shot at the finishing par five.
Rahm and Noren both shot 69s.
Francesco Molinari was among the half of the field that didn’t finish on Friday. He came back early Saturday and finished at six-under par to hold the 36-hole lead but after shooting even par for the third round, found himself two shots behind the leader.
Dustin Johnson wrapped up his second round with some costly bogeys and shot 75 but came back with his 67 and will start just four back of Reed at four-under. Another big name is in that pack with him and that is Phil Mickelson, who shot 69 for his third round.
