One might think with the vast, incalculable resources of the PGA Tour, someone might get this right.
Alas, that’s not the case when it comes to the point standings for the President’s Cup.
The Tour isn’t talking but it has been discovered that the calculations for the points standings have been miscalculated.
Good news is it didn’t affect the top 10 points leaders, the guys who are automatic qualifiers for the team.
Bad news: it hit the bubble guys:
Robert Streb fell from 11th to 16th.
Charley Hoffman fell from 12th to 15th.
Bill Horschel got a boost, he went from 14th to 12th.
What does it mean? Jack Nicklaus never stressed over his “captain’s picks” when he headed the U.S. team. He simply picked the 11th and 12th guys, you know, keep it simple — next man in.
So is this a big deal?
Raise you hand if you’re out there sitting on the edge of your chair with an “I can hardly wait” attitude to watch the President’s Cup matches.
Thought so.
