No one can resist cute puppies and apparently the PGA Tour can’t resist good young college players.
So basically the Sherriff of Nottingham (aka Commish Jay Monahan) and his henchmen have come up with a new program to hijack, err, direct, elite college players into their various tours — ie: PGA Tour, Web.com Tour, Mackenzie Tour, Latino America tour, PGA Tour China and what have you.
“The PGA Tour has been working to develop a new program that will identify, prepare and transition top collegiate golfers to professional golf,” according to a Tour statement sent to various media outlets. “This program will be designed to reward season-long collegiate play with varying levels of playing access to tours operated under the PGA Tour umbrella, while upholding the principles and virtues of collegiate athletics.”
One of Monahan’s henchmen with direct knowledge of the project called it “unprecedented.”
Guys from the Champions Tour aren’t happy with it, pointing out that the old Q-School system works just fine.
Too many kids are being persuaded to turn pro early by greedy agents.
The PGA Tour doesn’t need to add to the confusion. So, into the Dog House once again with the PGA Tour.
