It’s no secret that the European Tour is small potatoes in the financial department compared to its rich American brother — the PGA Tour.
Evidently the PGA Tour has decided to help out its European brethren. The PGA Tour stepped up last Friday and announced it has acquired a minority stake in the European Tour’s media production company.
It could signal the start of an alliance and a possible global schedule for both tours. The PGA Tour and European Tour will be able to collaborate on commercial opportunities and global media rights in certain territories.
Part of the agreement will have PGA Tour Commish Jay Monahan (aka The Sheriff Of Nottingham), joining the European Tour board of directors.
As part of the arrangement, PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan will join the European Tour board.
Dustin Johnson, Bryson, Paul Casey Will Play In Saudi International:
Dangle a seven-figure appearance fee at the world’s best and they’ll politely pad their wallets.
Dustin Johnson and Bryson DeChambeau will venture to Saudi Arabia next February (4-7) to compete in the controversial Saudi International event on the European Tour.
What’s more surprising is that Paul Casey will be joining them. Casey didn’t join many Europeans at the inaugural event in 2019. Casey is an ambassador for UNICEF. With Saudi Arabia’s questionable human right record, Casey passed.
“This is not a decision I’ve taken lightly. I wasn’t comfortable going in the past, but I have always been open minded and willing to learn,” Casey said in a statement. “I believe sport has the power to affect change. I’ve listened to the Saudi’s commitment to this and their vision for the future. It is always better to include rather than exclude when eliciting change, thus I hope my participation will make a difference and I am looking forward to seeing these changes in person,” Casey said.
Other big names in the field include Justin Rose, Tommy Fleetwood and Henrik Stenson.

Interesting.
I believe where it’s going is first the euro tour will be a qualifier into the pga tour like some Other Tours run by the pga tour.
And eventually, somehow they will become more equal in prizes and such To the Pga tour.
There are simply and increasingly too many great players around the world for one major tour.
Its clear the pga tour would benefit from a stronger, More equal, euro tour; and other tours around the world as well; especially if it can get its hands in all those pies.
It’s good for golf for top players to stay in their regions more promoting the sport where they can be most effective.
Of course it’s important to bring the best players together 8-10 times a year. But the rest of the time, it would be great to have 3-4
Equal pga tours around the world; both for the good of the game and pga tour bras’ wallets.
