Notice to the world:
DON’T TAKE ON PHIL MICKELSON IN A SKILLS COMPETITION!
Okay, we warned you.
Lefty is always a good sport and he showed up at Olympia Fields on Monday to take on some of the LPGA’s stars in a short-game/skills competition.
Of course KPMG paid him for his time, the company is one of his main sponsors and is the title sponsor for this week’s Women’s PGA Championship at venerable Olympia Fields outside Chicago.
Mickelson took on defending PGA champ Brooke Henderson, Lydia Ko and fellow KPMG-ambassador Stacy Lewis.
There were three challenges — chipping, flop shot then the wall of glass panes made popular on the Golf Channel’s Big Break show.
Mickelson actually trailed after the first two events. Ko edged Phil in the chipping, 3-2, then Lewis skunked the rest with two points in the flop shot. But when it came to breaking those glass panes, Lefty blew ’em away with 20 points.
Final Tally:
Mickelson: 22
Henderson: 15
Ko: 13
Lewis: 8
Sorry girls but Lefty is Lefty, short-game wizard.
