It hasn’t happened all that often over their years on the PGA Tour — Phil Mickelson paired with Tiger Woods.
Last time it happened was at the 2014 PGA Championship at Valhalla.
Mickelson is playing in the Safeway Championship this week.
And it that so happens that one Elrick Woods is making his return to the PGA Tour for the first time since the Wyndham Championship last year.
When Mickelson heard Woods would play, he started lobbying for another pairing with Woods.
Official pairings don’t come out until Tuesday, but rumors are flying that the two will play together for the first 36 holes at Silverado.
There’s already a stampede for tickets to the event and a possible Woods-Mickelson pairing will probably cause a lot of work absenteeism on Thursday and Friday of this week.
Stay tuned for this one.

Sure, he wants Tiger when Tiger is down, spare me. Phil has no class and poor sportsmanship. He is not as nice people think he is.
He couldn’t beat Tiger in his prime, what an idiot!

Typically you would never pair your two biggest names in an ordinary tournament like this, you’d even put them on opposite sides of the draw to spread the galleries. Is this a budding bro-mance?
