Harbor Town Golf Links is a perfect track for Ian Poulter.
That’s been pretty evident through the first 54-holes at the RBC Heritage.
Poulter overtook 36-hole leader Bryson DeChambeau with a 67 on Saturday that got him to 13-under and in position to win for the second time in the past three weeks.
It was no problem blowing past DeChambeau, he struggled mightily in the third round and finished with 74 to fall all the way back to six-under.
“A clean card, that’s the key,” said Poulter, winner three weeks ago in Houston. “I’m driving it well and I’m very confident in the distance control with my irons.”
Throw in some nice putting and Poulter will go into Sunday’s round with a one-shot lead over Si Woo Kim (68) and Luke List (67).
C.T. Pan and Billy Horschel recorded 67s and are tied at 11-under.
Bad weather threatens the area on Sunday. Tee times will be moved up and the field will have a split start with play in threesomes going off the first and 10th tees in attempt to get ahead of the predicted storms.
