How tough were things Thursday at the AT&T Pro-Am?
At the famous 17th at Pebble Beach, Patrick Reed stepped up and with the wind in his face, his a five-iron then went all of 145 yards.
It was that kind of day.
So who’s leading the AT&T Pro-Am?
You might want to check on Saturday because it will take that long to really find out who has the advantage at Pebble Beach.
Things got off to a sloppy start on Thursday. Wind and rain ruled the difficult day with players scattered all over the Monterrey Peninsula on the three courses used this week.
Play was suspended early in the afternoon, the horns blew around 1:35, West Coast time, leaving a lot of players coming back early Friday despite the tee times being moved up in anticipation of the coming afternoon rains.
Jordan Spieth was off and running with amateur partner Jake Owen. Spieth was three-under par through 16 holes over at Monterrey.
Jason Day was lucky enough to finish before play was suspended and his 69 at Monterrey left him in perfect shape after 18 holes.
Phil Mickelson’s round showed the difficulty of the day. He had seven birdies by the time he completed 17 holes at Monterrey yet found himself just one-under par.
Low rounds of the day went to the unheralded threesome of Rick Lamb, Joel Dahmen and Seung-Yul Noh. They were able to finish at Spyglass and shot 68s.
Friday morning will be a challenge, there’s more rain in the forecast and that will make it a struggle to get everyone finished by Saturday so that they can make the 54-hole cut.
