Happy Gilmore has become a cult hero for the non-golf world but there is, in fact, a real life Happy Gilmore — his name is Jeremy Nowak — aka “The Swingman.”
Jeremy was a contestant in the recent World Long Drive Championship held in Mesquite and DogLegNews instructional guru — Josh Koch — always like to explore new stuff when it comes to powerful golf swings.
Jeremy came into national attention when ESPN ran a clip of his “step-and-crush it” swing action on Sports Center. Since then, he’s become an internet sensation.
Josh visits with Jeremy, a former major league baseball player, to take a closer look at how Nowak pulls off the move — he begins by loading into his right side then swinging his left leg back, loads the club, then starts the downswing with that swinging left leg.
It’s an incredible move and with it, he produces 5-7 miles per hour more clubhead speed than he does with his normal golf swing.
So sit back and enjoy this segment as Josh visits with Jeremy Nowak — the real life Happy Gilmore.
