While Bubba Watson, Matt Kuchar and Patrick Reed attend to business in Cromwell, Ct. at the Travelers, guess who is already in Rio?
Yep, Rickie Fowler.
Fowler and the three aforementioned players make up team U.S.A. for the golf competition but tonight, more than one billion, yes billion viewers world-wide will watch the opening ceremonies of the Olympic Games in controversial Rio.
There’s been a lot of talk about the problems — shoddy construction in the Olympic Village, the Australian team has already been robbed. The water sports may be plagued by raw sewage floating in the waters surrounding Rio and let’s not mention the mutilated body parts that washed up where the beach volleyball competition will take place.
The $25 million golf course is a story unto itself, but more on that as the golf competition gets underway later next week.
Right now it’s simply the show before the show.
Swimmer Michael Phelps, the world’s most decorated Olympic star, will carry the United States flag and lead the team into the stadium this evening.
And somewhere in the crowd of young Americans, Rickie Fowler will be there too.
