Austin Cook didn’t look the least bit nervous Saturday at the RSM Classic.
The PGA Tour rookie who played his collegiate golf at Arkansas, looked calm all day on his way to a 66 at Sea Island’s Seaside course.
The 2017 Web.com grad’s round got him to 18-under par, three shots clear of Chris Kirk going into Sunday’s finale.
Conditions may be a little more difficult for the final round with winds expected to blow up to 20-25 miles per hour.
Cook has at least three experienced players chasing him, including Kirk. Brian Gay, a three-time tour winner, is alone at 14-under after a round of 69. Kevin Kisner starts the day six back.
J.J. Spaun held the lead with two holes to play two weeks ago in Mayakoba, only to get eaten alive by the wind. He had the day’s spectacular round, an eight-under par 2 that got him to 13-under and in contention again.
