Rory McIlroy gave the golf world cause for concern last week when he feared he had aggravated the rib injury that knocked him out of action for a month earlier this season.
McIlroy had an MRI on Monday as he had previously announced at The Players and it confirmed his suspicions.
McIlroy is taking this week off to rest his back/rib. But he will have to make a big decision early next week.
The BMW PGA, the flagship event of the European Tour, will be played at its traditional home at Wentworth.
McIlroy said he will wait until the first part of next week to decide if he “is in a position to compete.”
