Rory McIlroy’s disappointing PGA Tour season ended last week in Chicago but Rory’s not done for 2017. At least not yet.
McIlroy will play next week at the British Masters, hosted by Lee Westwood at the Close House Golf Club, the club Westwood represents.
The week after the British Masters, McIlroy plans to tee it up at one of the really cool events on the European Tour — the Alfred Dunhill Links. That event is played on three great links courses — the Old Course at St. Andrews, Carnoustie and Kingsbarns.
McIlroy is currently 10th in the Race To Dubai points standings. That’s the European Tour’s equivalent of the FedEx Cup.
After the Dunhill, McIlroy will have a decision to make. There are three big money events to cap the European Tour season. The first is the Turkish Airlines Open (Nov. 2) followed by the Nedbank at Sun City in South Africa (Nov. 9). Then the DP World, their equivalent of the Tour Championship, will be played in Dubai on Nov. 16.
That’s a lot of golf available to McIlroy if he choses to play.
“I am going to focus on my body, focus on my healthy,” McIlroy said last week after failing to make it to the Tour Championship. “I want to reset mentally and physically.”
