Rory McIlroy has played his way into The Dog House.
He did it by shooting 42 on the front nine Friday at the WGC event in Shanghai. He finished with 77 and at five-over par finds himself tied for a lowly 58th in the 77-man field.
We’re wondering out loud if Rory is the worst elite player in the world?
At the par five second at Sheshan International, downwind, 550 yards, Rory had just an eight or nine-iron into the green for his second. To make an ugly story short, he somehow ended up on the side of the green in three, lucky not to have gone in the water. He chunks his fourth like a 20-handicapper. Takes his drop, hits his sixth to six feet then promptly misses that putt and walks off the green with a fat triple-bogey eight.
If that wasn’t bad enough, he made double-bogey at the other par five on the front nine — the eighth. He recorded a six-over front nine.
Good news for Rory is that he will be at home in The Dog House, his driver cover is a dog.
Perfect.
