Ryan Palmer’s 65 at the Gullane Golf Club on Friday pulled him within three shots of the lead after 36-holes at the Scottish Open.
Palmer trails halfway leader Daniel Brooks of England, who like Palmer, shot 65 on Friday. Brooks stands at 11-under par.
Palmer was tied with defending champion Justin Rose, Graham McDowell, Shane Lowry, Johan Carlsson and Matthew Nixon.
Rickie Fowler and Matt Kuchar will go into the weekend five shots back, both have identical rounds of 66-68 and are six-under.
Jimmy Walker opened with 65 but could only manage an even-par 70. Conditions were perfect with little to no wind during round two. Walker was at five-under with Ben Martin and Cameron Tringale.
Phil Mickelson had to grind it out over his final nine to make the cut but he finished with 68 to make it by a shot. The cut came at two-under par. Brooks Koepka was in on the number at two-under.
