The next thing Sang-Moon Bae hoists probably won’t be a golf trophy, instead it might be a rifle.
Bae got the bad news this week as reported by his home-country newspaper The Yonhap News.
With the nasty neighbor to the north, South Korean men are obligated to a couple of years of service in the military and Bae, age 29 is smack dab in the 18-35 age requirement. He tried to fight it with a suit against the Military Manpower Administration but all that did was buy him a little time to hit a few more tee shots on the PGA Tour.
Bae has won twice on tour and is ranked 107th in the world. He has accepted the court’s decision. Not sure if the South Korean Army has its own golf course or if any of the bases have their own golf course. If they did, that is where Bae would be sent to hang out when he’s out of uniform.
Bae’s in the field this week at the Canadian Open but he’ll soon leave for South Korea.
You’re in the Army now.

Zack is the best role model for the sport…humble…thankful…appreciative, an all around very nice human being. He’s my hero.
