Adam Scott made his move on Friday at the Aussie Open while Jordan Spieth tried to.
Scott tied leader James Nitties for the low round of the day at Royal Sydney Golf Club with a seven-under par 65 that got him to six-under par through 36-holes of the championship.
Nitties, who was once a contestant on the Golf Channel’s Big Break competition, is nine-under at the halfway point after posting his own 65.
Jordan Spieth had a chance to pull within two shots of the leader but a double-bogey at the final hole derailed him and he fell back to five-under after rounds of 69-70.
First round co-leaders Herbert Lucas and Curtis Luck, the amateur, were tied with Scott at six-under, both recorded second round 71s.
