Sebastian Munoz had never led a PGA Tour event.
He fixed that on Thursday with a sizzling 61 at the Greenbrier Classic.
He has never held a 36-hole lead either.
He took care of that Friday morning with a three-under par 67 that got him to 12-under par — good enough for a three-shot lead heading into the weekend.
“I think it was a good round — overall I’m pretty happy with three-under,” Munoz said of his day’s work. Still it was a retreat from his all-out assault on par in the first round.
“I made a lot of clutch putts to keep the momentum going,” he pointed out. “I feel great. My putting’s good, my chipping’s good. I’m excited.”
He should be, it’s not like he has a bunch of Top 10 players chasing him.
Ben Martin (64-67) was first in at nine under then in the afternoon Hudson Swafford (65-66) joined him.
Davis Love, who shot 63 on Thursday, was nine-under with two holes to play but a bogey at the par-three eighth dropped him back to eight-under with defending champion Danny Lee (64-68) and Russell Henley (68-64).
