Phil Mickelson had one of those funky sports hernia surgeries last October that got rid of a problem located behind his belly button.
All went well and Mickelson was supposed to start his 2017 schedule at the CareerBuilder Challenge at La Quinta on Jan. 19. But that appearance is now in jeopardy as Mickelson revealed this week that he needs a second surgery.
It is unclear if it is related to the first surgery but he is expected to make a full recover. The question now is when he will be able to return to action on the PGA Tour.
The CareerBuilder is the tournament that used to be The Bob Hope back in the day.
If Mickelson cannot play, he has said he’ll be on site as he is one of the events ambassadors.
