The European Tour gives the Open Championship its full attention.
Back in the States, the PGA Tour feels obligated to give its second-tier guys a place to play while the world’s attention is focused on a major championship.
While Jordan Spieth put on an incredible finish for the ages at Royal Birkdale, they were contesting the final round of the Shaving Cream Open, aka The Barbasol, on the other side of the world in Opelika, Alabama.

They were taking the place apart most of the week. There were a pair of 60s turned in during the second and third rounds — Chad Collins shot his on Friday, Scott Stallings did it on Saturday.
Stallings led going into the final 18 holes but a closing 71 didn’t cut it.
Grayson Murray holed a five-footer for par at the 72nd hole to take a nervous one-shot victory over Collins. Murray finished 21-under par.
Stallings tied for third with Brian Gay and Tag Ridings.
