It’s taken a while to recover from FOX SPORTS broadcast efforts at the 116th U.S. Open.
Yes, Paul Azinger did his best to save the day, time and again and he did a nice job of keeping the ship afloat. But still, like in 2015, we had to put up with the mindless blathering of Joe Buck, who is in no way suited to do big-time golf.
Sorry, but that’s just the way it is. Especially when you compare him to the “Gold Standard” — Jim Nance over at CBS.
CBS stands alone at the top of golf broadcast royalty with NBC falling somewhere a rung or two down from them.
Fox? Fox is down in the basement, still.
Which begs the question — should Fox replace the “Blathering Buck”?
No sense asking the question without offering some solutions, right?
Well, this one is easy, let’s go right to the biggest star ever on Fox — one Homer Simpson.
Homer would be a great replacement for Buck. He is wittier, Homer would make us laugh and most of all, he would simply be easier to listen to than Joe Buck.
Homer has a great resume. He has held more than 188 jobs in the 400 episodes of The Simpsons. His experience makes him the right man to sit in the booth next to Azinger. And we’d bet that Azinger is a Homer Simpson fan as well.
Hopefully the executives at Fox will see this and say: “Doh!!!! Why didn’t we think of this??”
