At age 21, you would think Players Champion Si Woo Kim is too young to have back problems.
Wrong.
Kim withdrew Monday from the Byron Nelson in Dallas this week, citing an aggravated back injury that actually started bothering him on the eve of the final round.
“On Saturday night at The Players my back began to flare up,” Kim said in a prepared statement sent to the PGA Tour on Monday. “On Sunday when I arrived I received treatment.”
Obviously Kim felt well enough to play some spectacular golf on Sunday, most of it around the greens where he was a scrambling machine. He hit only eight greens but went 10-for-10 in par conversions on the greens he missed.
“I feel it is in the best interest to take precautionary measures to assure I can play and compete fully healthy for the rest of the season,” Kim’s statement read.
Kim makes his home in Dallas and was looking forward to playing in what he considers his adopted hometown.
