One of the most challenging things about playing The Masters is the slopes and elevations players will have to negotiate at the Augusta National Golf Club.
You face everything — uphill lies, downhill lies and all versions of side-hill lies.
Gravity and physics dictate that side-hill lies with the ball above your feet will result in shots that move right-to-left. Just the opposite for side-hill lies below your feet — the ball flight will become left-to-right.
Uphill lies add loft to the club. Downhill lies reduce the loft of the club.
So with those laws in mind, here’s some great instruction from PGA of America member Mike Sullivan. Note Mike is wearing a Masters logo shirt at the introduction!

Two takeaways from Mike’s primer:
First, take a little extra club.
Second, and most important, find some areas at your range or perhaps on the course (maybe late in the day or evening) where you can practice side-hill shots. It takes practice to get a good feel for these.
And check out the side-hill lies your favorites will be hitting this weekend at the Masters.
