These guys weren’t very good.
Despite what the PGA Tour commercial says.
At least they weren’t very good Saturday at the Quicken Loans National and neither was the weather at TPC Avenal.
A huge afternoon thunderstorm rolled into the D.C. area and caused a 90-minute rain delay during the third round.
It didn’t help David Lingmerth, who is the 54-hole leader despite the 73 he shot. He’s seven-under par, a shot in front of Daniel Summerhays, whose 70 kept him in the hunt.
Spencer Levin shot up the leaderboard thanks to the day’s best round — a five-under par 65 that tied him with Summerhays.
Like Lingmerth, Geoff Ogilvy had a shabby day. He started the third round eight-under par but thanks to his 74, he fell back to four-under, tied with Sung Kang and Curtis Luck.
Defending champion Billy Hurley III won’t repeat, he’s six-over par while the tournament’s only name player — Rickie Fowler — was seven off the pace at even par for his three trips around the TPC Avenal.
