It’s tough to keep pace with Brandt Snedeker at the Sony Open but Kevin Kisner is doing his best.
Snedeker followed his opening 63 with a 65 on Friday to get to 12-under par at the halfway point but that was only good enough for a one-shot lead over the FedEx points leader.
Kisner equaled Snedeker’s 63 on Thursday and followed with 66 in the second round and he’s alone at 11-under par after two trips around Waialae.
There’s some pretty strong competition two shots back of Snedeker including Open champion Zach Johnson (64-66) and world’s former No. 1 Luke Donald (65-65). Zac Blair (65-65) joined them along with Chez Reavie whose 63 was the day’s best round.
Scott Piercy, runner up to Jimmy Walker last year was one of five players at nine-under while first round co-leader Vijay Singh was one of four players at eight-under.
Walker may be too far back to have any chance of a three-peat. He made the 36-hole cut right on the number at three-under par.
